ToWP: Back key

| WebCab.de | ToWP | Next |

You cannot assume that all WAP devices have a hard key for the "back" function. Therefore, you need to provide this function in all of your WML decks. You can define the "back" function either in a template if a deck contains more than one card or directly in a card.

Definition in a template:

<wml>
<template>
<do type="prev" label="Back">
<prev/>
</do>
</template>
<card>
...
</card>
<card>
...
</card>
</wml>

Definition in a card:

<wml>
<card>
<do type="prev" label="Back">
<prev/>
</do>
...
</card>
</wml>

The label of the hard wired "Back" key cannot be changed. So, it makes no sense to define any more meaningful label for this "do" action. Even if the label of a soft key could be defined you cannot assume that all WAP devices support a different label for the <do type="prev"> action than "Back". In this case, the label is hard wired for a soft key.

Don't define something like the following code:

<do type="prev" name="Home" label="Home">
<a href="http://my.server.com/i.wml">
</do>

The WAP device with a hard wired "Back" key won't display the label "Home". The user will expect that the "Back" key will load the previous card or deck but not the deck i.wml at my.server.com.
