2.4.1. Low-volume web pages

By Rainer Hillebrand

Keep your web pages as low-volume as possible. Let the user decide which content to be retrieved. If you group a lot of different information into a single page then your users must load a big page with some unwanted content. If you separate the information in several pages and set hyperlinks to each page the users are able choose the appropriate pages. However, the more clicks are required to reach the content the user is seeking for the more frustrating is it especially over slow and/or long delay cellular networks. Therefore, it is always a balance between the speed to reach the content via a number of clicks and the speed of the download and rendering of the web page.
