The first strategy is the easiest one because the user can directly choose one of different versions by clicking on the appropriate link. This might be a solution for the selection of language versions but not for different media types like HTML 3.2, Compact HTML, WML, XHTML Basic and so on. If the links are available in an HTML page then a browser that supports only WML cannot render this HTML page, and vise versa. In this case, we would recommend an automatic selection with content negotiation (see the third strategy above).
